After a 20 minute drive in including a Class IV road, we stopped on the outer trail.   By now it's a tradition to park here for a photo op...   We proceeded down through the two puddles on the outer trail.   Colin is in the deepest part of the larger puddle, Jack is just coming out of the smaller one.   An early puddle on the 'Water Trail'.   Jack making waves.   You had to choose your line before getting to this rock incline at the end - the bow wave obscures it.   Colin about halfway through.   The long puddle - me first!   I warned them about getting splashed!   Bryan going through - you can see how far up it splashes.   Colin went next.   Jack had a little trouble with this section. 4-Lo would have helped.   A tug from Colin's Pathy did the trick.   Bryan and I had already gone through - Colin made sure to avoid the rock Jack had been hitting!   After that you had to climb and then take a sharp right and up another incline. Bryan had churned it up pretty well and Colin eventually turned around and got ready to go down the ledge hill while we turned around higher up.   Here is Colin near the top.   Here is Colin near the middle.   Here is Colin near the bottom.   I went down next.   Bryan went down next - toward the top...   Toward the bottom...   We parked at the escarpment on the way out - another tradition...

Jack's Account:
Well, for this time of the year you couldn't ask for a better day in Vt.! I met up with Greg, Colin, & Bryan. I had my 13 yr.old son with me and Bryan came with his son, a toddler. I have a Cherokee, Greg has a Nissan Hardbody, and Colin & Bryan both have Pathfinders. Colin had a problem with his a/c belt, which he cut off at the start of the trail. I had a problem with my Cherokee's transfer case shifter. Since my recent install of a lift and transfer case lowering kit I neglected to try shifting into 4 Lo. The linkage needs adjustment. I didn't think this to be any real problem (until later).
If you like mud and above the hub waterholes then this is the right place! Towards the end of the trail I got hung up against a submerged rock that was hitting against my front diff. Due to my crappy A/T tires and no 4 Lo I was unable to back out of the hole. After about 1/2 hour of trying to strap forward and rocking Colin was able to strap me backwards around a turn off. Colin, sorry about getting your nice white strap dirty! I parked to the side there while the others completed the loop around. Greg made it up the hill, then Bryan proceeded to churn it up and dig down to China! He eventually made it up too. This left a real mess for Colin to tackle, but he made it too. I can't remember if he ended up taking a strap up it. {Greg sez: Actually, he made it up the first hill but not the second.} After the loop we all made it back out with no problems.
After hitting another nearby trail Greg heard a squeeling sound up front. We discovered that his swaybar had disconnected itself on the right side and may have been rubbing against his CV joint. Bryan had a check engine light come on, but all seemed fine. He May have hit a sensor. Hope he made it back OK. {Greg sez: He did.} Well, there's two things for me to do, get that shifter adjusted and get some decent tires! Thanks again to Greg for showing us all a great time! {Greg sez: Thanks for showing up!} -Jack
