Just saw Dogwater's name over on NEOW. So I says to myself, I should check out NTL, haven't been there in ages...guess nobody else has either.
Oh well I know too well how it goes. NO TIME...NO MONEY...WORK WORK WORK.
Hey Shad, I see by your info you're from Burlington, what great town. Was up there with the family early this fall riding the rail trail, then rode up into Canada. The kids thought it was way cool going through customs on a bicycle.

Yup, that about says it.
Bicycles over the border huh?
Well, one time years ago my gf and i took a trip to Canada, got stopped at US Customs on the way back and had my car impounded (long story ).
Anyway, we ended up at a campground down the road and the next day we asked for a ride to the customs house to find out the fine i had to pay to get my car back. These really nice guys from NJ were staying at the campground, had given us one of their extra cabins to stay in, food, beer, etc.. and they offered to give us a ride in their boat (it was near the 1000 islands in NY). Well, we get in and ride up the river a bit and they pull up to shore and we get out, scramble up the bank and we're in Canada! So we walk the 50 yards or so over to their customs, go to the duty-free shop to try to buy smokes (they only sold whole cartons), then walked through the US customs gate.
They're yelling 'where did you come from, where's your car?' we said 'it's in there' and just walked past them into the building. It was pretty funny, although the rest of it was less amusing. Anyway, I was just reminded of that trip so figured I'd share it, lol. _________________ -Greg

Impounded your car? Bummer, don't tell me there was some herbaceous substances involved. _________________ 83 CJ7 Mostly Green-Soon To Be One Color-On brandi-new 33 swampas |
